Professor of Philosophy, Open Area and Rank
Ave Maria University
The Department of Philosophy and Graduate Philosophy Program at Ave Maria University invites applications for a full-time position in philosophy at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor to start July 1, 2026. Applicants from all areas of philosophy within the Catholic intellectual tradition are welcome to apply. The primary duties of this position include regular instruction (on a 3-3 courseload) of a wide range of philosophy courses at the undergraduate level, possible mentoring and teaching of graduate students, the pursuit of an active research program that includes scholarly publications, and engagement in service to the University.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Philosophy, conferred by July 1, 2026; an active research program; teaching experience with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and the Catholic liberal arts tradition; and a dedication to the University’s mission as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
A complete application should be addressed to the Members of the Philosophy Search Committee, and must include:
1. One-page cover letter that addresses applicant’s qualifications
2. Curriculum Vitae
3. Writing Sample (15 pp.)
4. Teaching Statement (3-5 pp.), with supporting evidence of teaching excellence (official teaching evaluations should be included wherever available)
5. Statement on Ex Corde Ecclesiae (2 pp.): a personal statement on applicant’s prospective contribution to a Catholic liberal arts institution of higher learning, and commitment to promoting the mission of Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
6. Three confidential letters of recommendation, to be sent directly to Ms. Megan Hare, [email protected], copying [email protected].
