Faculty Position in Philosophy
The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Philosophy.
Areas of Specialization and Competence are open, but an ability to bring Aristotelean and Thomistic philosophy into fruitful dialogue with other philosophical traditions is a distinct asset. A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required by time of employment.
Applicants must excel in teaching, be committed to supporting formation outside of the classroom and have an active research agenda.
The position includes teaching in the seated undergraduate program and in the online graduate program of the Master of Arts in Philosophy/Master of Business Administration (see https://online.umary.edu/academics/masters-doctoral-programs/mba-ma-philosophy-dual-degree). The teaching load is a 4/4 with the possibility of summer teaching for additional pay.
All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see www.umary.edu/about/mission/missionidentity.php ).
Qualifications and Requirements Include:
• Ph.D. in philosophy
• Conversant in Aristotelian and Thomistic philosophy
• Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Arts and Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
